EcoScan, the innovative app for recycling, is now available within Ximmio’s apps. Waste collector RAD is the first to offer this integration. Residents using the RAD app can now easily scan a product’s barcode or take a picture to receive instant waste separation advice.
“This is a great step in our mission to make waste separation easier,” said Rick Buiten, founder of the EcoScan app. “By integrating our technology into Ximmio’s apps, we can reach even more residents and help them separate waste correctly.”
Smart waste separation directly in RAD app
RAD’s app already offered residents the ability to consult collection days and the waste guide. The integration with EcoScan makes it even easier to separate waste correctly.
- Users scan a product’s bar code or take a picture.
- EcoScan recognizes the product and sends the appropriate information back to Ximmio.
- The app provides instant advice based on local waste policies.
“This means that users of the RAD app -the residents of the Goeree-Overflakkee and Hoeksche Waard municipalities-can see in their familiar app which container their waste belongs in, without becoming an expert in waste separation,” Rick said.
Cooperation with Ximmio: A step forward in waste management
Ximmio provides apps for many waste collectors and municipalities, helping to better inform residents about waste collection and disposal. With the integration of EcoScan, Ximmio now offers even smarter waste separation within their platform.
“Our modular approach allows us to remain flexible and integrate the best technologies,” said Sami, CEO of Ximmio. “By collaborating with specialists such as EcoScan, we can strengthen the quality and flexibility of our apps. This ensures that municipalities and waste collectors can offer residents an even better and more user-friendly solution.”
“We see this partnership as a great step,” Rick adds. “Ximmio is helping tremendously many waste collectors and municipalities to better inform residents. We add smart technology to that, making waste separation easier and more accessible.”
EcoScan and the national yes/no list
EcoScan is linked to the national yes/no list for waste separation, providing residents with consistent and correct advice on how to separate their waste. This provides a unified policy and clarity for residents.
If the national list is not used, EcoScan offers the possibility to customize the system per municipality so that the advice is always in line with the local waste policy. In addition, the list is constantly updated with new products to ensure accuracy and relevance.
To ensure a smooth transition between topics, “As waste management becomes increasingly complex, it is essential that municipalities and residents can rely on current and accurate information about waste separation. “RAD: Additional support for residents
RAD is at the forefront of innovation in waste management and is the first waste collector to implement EcoScan through Ximmio. Because of Ximmio’s vision to continuously improve the quality of their products together with other suppliers and provide space in the Ximmio Waste Platform for service-enhancing external plug-ins, we can provide additional support to our residents in offering raw materials correctly. This contributes to more efficient and sustainable waste disposal.
Recycling accessible to all
Through this collaboration, waste collectors and municipalities can provide their residents with even better support for waste separation. This is in keeping with EcoScan’s mission to make recycling accessible and fun.
“Our goal is to help as many people as possible separate waste and reduce residual waste. With now 1.3 million households we reach, we show that small actions together make a big difference. So by partnering with Ximmio, we can greatly increase this impact,” said Rick.
Availability
EcoScan functionality is now available in the RAD app. Ximmio has the ability to offer this functionality within the apps of other waste collectors and municipalities as well.
With this collaboration, RAD, Ximmio and EcoScan are together taking a big step toward more sustainable waste management.
